SSL Redhill Starts on site
KSA are providing civil and structural services in conjunction with our BIM capabilities for the new Sainsbury’s store located in the town centre of Redhill, Surrey. The build incorporates a basement carpark, 60k m2 of retail floor, a first floor gym, two upper levels of car parking plus two levels of hotel accommodation.
Another BIM level 2 school underway
Ridgeview School, Tonbridge. KSA have been appointed to provide detailed designs, all to BIM level 2, for a new two storey school incorporating the requirements and necessities for pupils with special educational needs. The SEN school’s additional support services include a number of lifts, therapy and treatment rooms plus a hydro-therapy pool. A separate building is also being constructed which will provide life skills training for the students before leaving sixth form.
Langley Park Academy starts on site
KSA provided BIM level 2 designs for the primary school on behalf of Kent County Council.
KSA have been appointed to continue phases 2 – 5 of Barratt Home’s Phoenix Quarter Development in Dartford. The former industrial site is being converted to provide a total of 636 residential units in the form of houses and flats. The sloping site has resulted in almost 3 linear kilometres of retaining walls, including bespoke semi-basement plots.

SSL Thanet opens for trading. KSA provided the civil, structural and fully coordinated 3D BIM services for a new store-on-stilts at Thanet, Kent. The 70k m2 store and service yard, located in the prestigious Westwood Cross retail park, are raised at first floor providing around 720 parking spaces underneath.

Northumberland Project North Shell Building
Kirksaunders have been appointed to provide Civil and Structural design services on the first phase of the Northumberland Development Project, the North Building adjacent to the Tottenham Hotspur FC stadium at White Hart Lane. McLaren Construction Ltd won the project through a competitive tender process with our design support. The building consists of a food retail store with undercroft parking and three levels of office accommodation above.
University of Kent
We have recently been appointed by Jenner Group on a design and build basis on a new children’s nursery to be situated on the University of Kent Campus in Canterbury.
The project value is £1m. We are working closely with the client, architect and contractor, in the early stages of the project, to assist in the submission of planning, to include provision of specialist surveys and drainage design strategies. Design currently consists of single storey timber frame on ground bearing foundations.
This new build store on stilts was built on the former Brown Lennox Chainworks site, where many of Victorian engineer Isambard Brunel’s chains were made. During the construction we encountered difficulties with existing obstructions, difficult ground conditions and levels. The adjacent canal was also refurbished as part of the works and new boundary retaining walls were constructed.
Sainsbury’s Sudbury is another successful off-site structure designed by kirsaunders for AEP Modular Construction Ltd. Our first modular new build the overall build time was dramatically reduced using this system.
Foreland SEND School
Kirksaunders have just been appointed by Kier Construction under their Local Education Partnership with Kent for a proposed new build Foreland School on Kent County Council land at Pysons Road, Ramsgate. The school is being developed under the Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Strategy designated as a school for 200 pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.
E-on, Isle of Grain
Kirksaunders have recently been appointed to provide Civil and Structural design services for a new workshop facility, extension to existing administration block and associated site infrastructure at the e-on Power Station in Grain, Kent. Kirksaunders provided support throughout the tender process for the successful bidder, Kier Construction.
Marks and Spencer Wolstanton
We have been working with Marks and Spencer on the development of a new 140,000 sq. ft. retail unit in Wolstanton.
The building is to be constructed on a former colliery site which has previously supported retail and warehouse development.
West Cross, Thanet
Kirksaunders have been appointed by Sainsbury’s to assist with the planning application for a new store at the popular West Cross shopping centre. Plans are currently with the Council for approval.
Premier Inn, New Dover Road, Canterbury
Construction has commenced on the new five storey Premier Inn Hotel in Canterbury, Kent. Kirksaunders worked from early stages of the project with the client and design team before being novated to contractor RG Carter.
Epping High Street, Essex
Kirksaunders were appointed by developer Edgewest Group to provide Civil and Structural engineering services for the mixed use development within a conservation zone in Epping High Street. The development consists of restaurant at ground floor with two levels of private residential accommodation above.
39-45 Grays Inn Road, London WC1
kirksaunders are currently working with a developer led design team to produce detailed design and tender information for the refurbishment of four existing terraced properties in WC1. The properties are to include enlarged basements, food retail at ground floor and private residential properties to the four floors above. The development is within a conservation area and is to include retained facades.
Kirksaunders are proud to have provided Civil and Structural Engineering services for the recently extended Sainsbury’s store at Pepperhill, Northfleet, Kent. Alterations included extensions to the front and side producing additional ground floor retail area, new petrol filling station, additional car parking, access roads and new goods online facilities.
